The time will never be right. It is one of the most important lessons I have learned, and the one I most often forget. I cannot count the amount of times I have declared “I’ll do it when ____!” I will do it when I am in better shape, when I have a different job, when my bank account is more stable. I have put too many desires on the back burner whilst vowing to do them when the time is right.
What if I never am skinnier, healthier, or richer? What if I never have “more time” or feel energetic? What if life never slows down? I say this not pessimistically, but rather to say there is always going to be something in the way, an excuse to proffer.
There is no right time. There may be a better time, but not an absolutely, positively right time. Is it the right time to plan a vacation immediately after I quit my job? If your first reaction is anything like mine, you’re proclaiming a resounding NO. But with money saved up and an abundance of time, perhaps I should take that solo camping trip I have been dreaming of. One thing I know for sure, if I sit around and wait for the right time to take my dream holiday, it will never happen.
Life is messy, and this is my messy way of starting my blog. I have wanted to write this blog for years. Over the years it has changed, evolved, devolved, and become a muddled mess of confusion and chaos. I kept waiting for the right time to start a blog, as if some cosmic sign in purple neon letters was going to spring up from ground saying “IT’S TIME TO WRITE!” For me, there was a multitude of reasons why it was never the right time; leading the way was not enough free time, no motivation, lack of inspiration, too long of a to-do list, not prepared, and a good dose of insecurity. Then the pandemic hit, and with it came the need for self-reflection. One of the things that I found myself continually mulling over was this hypothetical blog. My brain grasped this vague idea and would not let it go. So, without proper planning and only half a concept, here I am.
What I can tell you about this blog: it is a lifestyle blog geared towards single women in their thirties. If that’s not you, don’t worry, all are welcome here! The blog will feature entries on travel, style, home, crafts, entertainment, food, and wellness. You can expect my love of Disney, Harry Potter, and nerdy things to dominate many of the entries. Follow me as I explore my thirties, navigate single life, seek out adventure, and add a little delight to your day.
I hope you will join me on this journey.
